The National Crime Agency develops and refines relationships with domestic and international partners, and will continue to do so in Afghanistan, as a critical function of the UK's counter-narcotics activity. We continue to make clear to all sides that any political settlement must protect the progress made in the country, including the rights of women and minorities. The UK is consulting with partner countries, including through the G7, to agree a collective approach to development and humanitarian support to Afghanistan. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/01/2020 answer text <p>The Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC) in its plenary format (JMC(P)), chaired by the Prime Minister and attended by the First Ministers of the devolved administrations and deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, has met 13 times since 31 March 2001.</p><p>The Joint Ministerial Committee on EU Negotiations (JMC(EN)) has met 21 times since it was established in 2016. The JMC(EN) brings together the UK Government and the devolved administrations to discuss the progress of the UK’s exit from the EU.</p><p>The Joint Ministerial Committee on Europe (JMC(E)) has wherever possible met quarterly in advance of European Council meetings to discuss ongoing EU business with the devolved administrations.</p><p>During the absence of the Northern Ireland Executive, senior officials from the Northern Ireland Civil Service attended. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/11/2019 answer text <p>The Government has a manifesto commitment to ensure stronger protection for our ancient woodlands and the irreplaceable nature of ancient woodlands is recognised in our 25 Year Environment Plan.</p><p> </p><p>In February 2019 we published the revised National Planning Policy Framework, which strengthens the protection of ancient woodlands by refusing any development that would lead to the deterioration of ancient woodland and ancient or veteran trees, unless there are wholly exceptional reasons and a suitable compensation package exists.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst we do not distinguish between individual tree species, this now reflects the importance of strengthened protection of ancient woodlands, ancient trees and veteran trees, including ancient yew trees, and is a significant milestone in continuing to strengthen the protection of this irreplaceable habitat.</p><p> </p><p>The Government remains committed to making sure that our ancient woodlands are adequately protected and suitably managed to provide a wide range of social, environmental and economic benefits.</p><p> </p><p>It was announced in April that the Government would give the Woodland Trust £210,000 to work with Natural England to update the Ancient Woodland Inventory. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/07/2017 answer text <p>We are unable to confirm the position at a UK level as fisheries protection is a devolved matter. However, the Royal Navy Fishery Protection Squadron comprises of 3 offshore patrol vessels of which one is currently tasked to meet the contractual commitment to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) for the purposes of fisheries enforcement in England.</p><p> </p><p>The number of RN Offshore Patrol Vessels reflects the adoption of a risk based, intelligence led operational model that enables targeted enforcement interventions in the right place at the right time. The requirement for all vessels over 12 metres in length to be fitted with the satellite tracking devices (Vessel Monitoring System) gives a real time picture of where fishing activity is happening enabling the efficient employment of patrol vessels. This information is monitored at the MMO control room in Newcastle.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, when the RN Offshore Patrol Vessels are at sea but conducting other tasks they are still able to provide a presence which has a deterrent effect. This is supplemented by joint working with other agencies such as Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authorities (IFCAs), UK Border Force (UKBF) and the Police to ensure effective and timely intervention where illegal activity is suspected.
