<p>The independent Office for National Statistics’ latest estimate of unemployment

the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic the Government has made an unprecedented effort
to protect jobs and livelihoods – with the package of measures the Government has
put in place for employers, employees and the self-employed being amongst the most
generous in the world.</p><p> </p><p>The Chancellor has announced an unprecedented
series of measures to support businesses and their employees to mitigate the impact
of COVID-19.</p><p> </p><p>DWP is continuing to work with HMT and other Government
departments to monitor the evolving economic and labour market situation to identify
the most effective ways to help people stay in or close to work both now and in the
future.</p>
