answer text
The Government is committed to delivering a National Health Service that is fit for the future, and we recognise that delivering high quality NHS healthcare services requires a safe, resilient, and effective hospital estate.

As highlighted by Lord Darzi’s independent investigation into the NHS, we know that strategic, value for money investments in capital schemes are vital to improving and modernising hospitals. In line with the Government's missions and as part of our internal Spending Review preparations, the Department is currently reviewing capital requirements. Any future national capital programmes for NHS organisations seeking support to modernise hospital infrastructure will be considered as part of these processes.
more like this

answer text
The Government encourages local highway authorities to find innovative solutions to help mitigate the formation of potholes and other road defects, but decisions on which technologies to use are a matter for them. This can include adopting the use of better materials or equipment to treat the road surface more effectively. The Government is also supporting a £30 million “Live Labs” programme which is exploring innovative ways to decarbonise local highways infrastructure and assets.

The Government is also enabling innovation in the ways in which local highway authorities collect and report data on the condition of their local roads. It has worked with the British Standards Institute to publish a new standard which will empower local highway authorities to choose which technology to use to identify road defects, helping them to better manage the condition of roads, and ultimately improve road user experience.

more like this

answer text
The UK’s Corporation Tax rate remains supportive of growth and internationally competitive – 25% is the lowest rate in the G7. The Chancellor also confirmed that generous tax reliefs including Full Expensing, the Annual Investment Allowance and R&D will be maintained.

Maintaining these policies and a predictable tax environment for businesses is the most effective way for encouraging investment overall. The Government keeps all tax policy under review and regularly receives proposals for sector-specific tax reliefs. When considering a new tax relief, the Government must ensure it supports businesses in a fair way and that taxpayer money is effectively targeted.

There are already government incentives that support green investment in these sectors. The Heat Pump Investment Accelerator Competition, worth up to £30 million, aims to bring forward investment in the UK heat pump manufacturing supply chain. The Green Gas Support Scheme also provides tariff support to support the building of new infrastructure to produce biomethane.

The Department for Business and Trade’s Automotive programmes also continue to support the development and commercialisation of cutting-edge automotive technologies to support the EV transition and the wider UK supply chain.
