answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/03/2021 answer text <p>Since the start of the first lockdown, we’ve provided a range of targeted measures to see the UK tourism sector through COVID-19. On top of the Government’s wider economic support package, we've provided business rates relief and grants for many in the sector, as well as a substantial cut in VAT for tourism and hospitality activities until the end of March. The Chancellor will deliver the Budget on 3 March, in which he will set out the next phase of our plan to tackle the pandemic and build back better.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise that heightened travel restrictions are significantly impacting international tourism and we are closely monitoring the situation. We will continue to engage with stakeholders via the Tourism Industry Council to assess how we can most effectively support the sector’s recovery.</p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Global Travel Taskforce last year committed the Government to publish a Tourism Recovery Plan in support of the sector. The Government intends to set out proposals in the Spring, including plans for a marketing campaign to welcome visitors back to the UK as soon as it is safe to do so. </ins></p><p><br /><ins class="ministerial">The Department for Transport will lead a successor to the <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/global-travel-taskforce-recommendations" target="_blank">Global Travel Taskforce</a>, with an ambition to develop a framework that can facilitate greater inbound and outbound travel as soon as the time is right, while still managing the risk from imported cases and variants. We are keeping British Nationals updated on what healthcare options are available to them and how they can receive a vaccine locally through Travel Advice pages and 'Living In' guides on gov.uk. In addition, the UK is playing a leading international role to ensure global access to vaccines, including by contributing the equivalent of £330m a year, totalling £1.65bn, for the next five years to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance that provides equitable access to safe and effective vaccines for 190 economies.</ins><del class="ministerial">There are no plans to roll out the UK's NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme to British Nationals living abroad. The Government is working closely with vaccine developers to monitor progress of clinical trials.</p><ul><li>The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and this vaccine is already being deployed in the UK.</li><li>The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine was approved by the MHRA and this vaccine is already being deployed in the UK.</li><li>The Moderna vaccine was approved by the MHRA. Supplies of this vaccine will begin to be delivered to the UK from the spring once Moderna expands its production capability.</li><li>The Janssen vaccine is currently in phase 3 clinical trials. If clinical trials prove the vaccine to be safe and effective, supplies of the vaccine could start to be delivered to the UK in the second half of 2021.</li><li>The Novavax vaccine is currently in phase 3 clinical trials. If clinical trials prove the vaccine to be safe and effective, supplies of the vaccine could start to be delivered to the UK in the second half of 2021.</li><li>The GlaxoSmithKline/SanofiPasteur vaccine is currently in phase 1/2 clinical trials. Deliveries of this vaccine are being discussed with the developer and dependent upon the vaccine being found to be safe and effective.</li><li>The Valneva vaccine is currently in phase 1/2 clinical trials. The Department funds research into these areas through the National Institute for Health Research. Additionally, UK Research and Innovation funds research into these areas primarily through the Medical Research Council, the Biotechnology Biological Sciences Research Council, and the Economic and Social Research Council.</p><p>The attached table shows funding allocated through these routes, not including wider funding that contributes to research in these areas. Figures for research into Alzheimer’s disease are only part of overall dementia research spending.</p><p><ins class="ministerial">NIH</ins>R values refer to total spend.
