answer text
We have seen no evidence of government involvement in the intercommunal violence which has affected multiple states across Nigeria. We regularly reinforce to the Nigerian authorities the importance of protecting civilians and upholding human rights standards. Any member of the Nigerian security services found to have been involved in human rights violations must be held accountable.

The UK does not intend to withdraw development and humanitarian assistance from Nigeria, which faces numerous challenges to its future growth and development. The humanitarian crisis in the north-east is worsening, millions of children lack access to clean water, sanitation or education, and conflict continues to affect the oil-rich Delta region. Despite significant natural resources, around a third of Nigerians (60 million) live below the national poverty line with around another third just above; many of them are highly vulnerable and at risk of being trafficked to the UK. The UK is focused on helping Nigeria overcome these challenges.

answer text
We discuss nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament frequently with a wide range of partners across the international community through UK Embassies overseas, with Embassies in London, in international organisations, and directly between capitals. We attended the first Preparatory Committee for the 2020 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference in Vienna in May, where we engaged with a wide range of states on how we can together tackle the challenges we face on non-proliferation and disarmament, and enable access to the peaceful use of nuclear technology.
more like this

answer text
We have not made any representations to the Spanish government on this issue. The UK is clear that questions related to Catalonia are a matter for the Government and people of Spain, and there needs to be respect for the laws and Constitution of Spain. As for UK citizens in Catalonia, they enjoy the same constitutional rights as UK citizens in any other autonomous community of the Kingdom of Spain.
more like this

answer text
We regularly raise a range of issues with the Government of Qatar at all levels. The UK remains very concerned by the ongoing tensions in the Gulf. The Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary and other ministers are engaging with our Gulf friends to encourage de-escalation and to get firmly behind Kuwait’s mediation efforts to resolve the dispute. The Foreign Secretary spoke most recently to the Qatari Foreign Minister on these issues on 23rd November. Qatar is a partner of the UK in the fight against terrorism, and the Government has welcomed the Emir of Qatar’s commitment to tackle terrorism in all its manifestations, including terrorist financing, and his pledge to resolve remaining differences with Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain through dialogue, negotiation and Kuwaiti mediation.
more like this
