answer text <p>In 2010/11 Government, through the Office of Low Emission Vehicles, spent £7.3m and in 2018/19 is forecast to spend approximately £200m. This is part of Government’s programme of investment, alongside other measures set out in the Road to Zero strategy, to put the UK at the forefront of the transition to zero emission vehicles.</p><p> </p><p>In 2018, the UK was the second largest market for ultra low emission vehicles in the EU accounting for nearly 20% of registrations, and 1 in 5 electric cars sold in Europe last year was made in the UK.</p> more like this

answer text <p>This Government is committed to cracking down on employers who fail to pay the National Minimum and Living Wage (NMW). In the last 3 years we have almost doubled HMRC’s budget to enforce the NMW from £13.2 million to a record £26.3 million.</p><p> </p><p>Workers who ordinarily work in the UK are entitled to minimum wage for all of their work, including, for example, for work on ships located outside the UK servicing offshore installations. Furthermore, workers on UK registered ships are entitled to minimum wage for all their work on the ship wherever it is located, unless they work entirely outside the UK or are not ordinarily resident in the UK.</p><p> </p><p>NMW issues fall within the portfolio of Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Corporate Responsibility, Kelly Tolhurst, who most recently met directly with HMRC officials on Monday 14<sup>th</sup> January.</p><p> </p><p>BEIS officials meet regularly with their HMRC colleagues through an established governance structure, to monitor progress and discuss current and emerging risks of non-compliance with the NMW.</p>

answer text <p>The tables in the accompanying spreadsheet set out the number of male and female prisoners with an origin address in Salford who were in prison as at 31 December 2018 – the most recent date for which such data is available.</p><p> </p><p>There are complex and wide-ranging issues involved in transferring and locating prisoners, and allocation decisions must reflect both the specific needs and circumstances of the prisoner, including their security category, as well as the operating environment and range of services at the receiving prison.</p><p> </p><p>Prisoners held in the adult male prison estate are organised in categories of risk ranging from category A for the highest risk offenders to category D for those posing the lowest risk and suitable for open conditions. Balanced alongside this is the need to separate specific cohorts of prisoners and provide accommodation for those who are yet to be sentenced and/or categorised. Women and Young Offenders are categorised as ‘restricted status’ for those who would pose serious risk to the public, or assessed as suitable for ‘closed’ or ‘open’ conditions depending on their level of risk.</p><p> </p><p>HMPPS endeavours to hold prisoners in establishments which keep them as close to home as possible so they can (re)build family ties, secure housing, access health services and look for work. Consideration is also given to other factors such as time to serve, security categorisation, offending behaviour and access to relevant training programmes as per the requirements set out in their sentence plan.</p>
