answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/06/2023 answer text <p>Raptor persecution is a national wildlife crime priority and where hen harriers or any other wild birds of prey are killed illegally the full force of the law should apply to any proven perpetrators of the crime. We have significant sanctions for this type of wildlife crime in place which includes an unlimited fine and/or a six-month custodial sentence.</p><p> </p><p>The Government takes wildlife crime seriously. In 2022 Defra more than doubled its funding of the National Wildlife Crime Unit (NWCU) from a total of £495,000 over the three previous years to £1.2 million for the three-year period of 2022-25 to target wildlife crime priorities, in particular crimes against birds of prey. The national Hen Harrier Action Plan sets out what will be done to increase hen harrier populations in England and includes measures to stop illegal persecution. We are committed to securing the future of the hen harrier as a breeding bird in England. We also support the work of the Bird of Prey Crime Priority Delivery Group, which brings together police, government and stakeholders from conservation and country sports organisations to tackle raptor persecution and we provide funding to Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA) to develop DNA forensic analysis for the police and other organisations investigating crimes against peregrine falcons.</p> answering member constituency Copeland answering member printed Trudy Harrison question first answered 13/06/2023 09:14:34 answering member 4593 label Biography information for Trudy Harrison

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2023 answer text <p><em>T</em>he ICE office continuously reviews its processes and operating model to improve productivity and reduce the length of time investigations take to be concluded, without compromising quality.</p><p> </p><p>The overall ICE process has several stages. Once a case has been accepted, ICE will attempt to resolve it without a full evidence gather. If a resolution cannot be brokered, the case awaits allocation to an investigator who will judge first, once the evidence is available, whether the complaint can be settled. If this is not appropriate, or if settlement action cannot be agreed with the customer, an investigation is conducted and findings are made.</p><p> </p><p>Since April 2022 ICE has recruited an additional 18 investigators who will become increasingly productive as they consolidate initial training. A further 5 staff are due to join the team from July. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2023 answer text <p>DWP aim to contact customers within 15 working days to clear their complaint or agree how to investigate it if it will take longer.</p><p> </p><p>DWP now triage complaints giving priority to vulnerable claimants who may be at risk, and those with benefit payment issues. People are advised to visit their general practitioner (GP) with new or existing moles that have changed in shape or colour. If the GP suspects a mole is cancerous, a two week suspected cancer referral will be made. Depending on the outcome, the mole may be surgically removed.
