To help firms continue to keep people in employment, the Government announced the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme which includes employees who were made redundant since 28 February 2020 if they are rehired by their employer. For those who will not be eligible for the scheme, the Government is strengthening the safety net. This is an unprecedented jobs retention scheme and the Government has been working hard over the last week to set out further details on the scheme. Full details can now be found in the guidance available at: <a href="http://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-for-wage-costs-through-the-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme" target="_blank">http://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-for-wage-costs-through-the-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme</a>.</p><p> </p><p>Employers whose operations have been severely affected by coronavirus are encouraged to use the scheme instead of making staff redundant. Under the scheme, employers can put employees on temporary leave and the Government will pay them cash grants of 80% of their wages up to a cap of £2,500 per month, providing they keep the individual employed. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/04/2020 answer text <p>Officials are working closely with the National Health Service and the independent sector to ensure that all NHS staff are exempt from hospital car parking charges during the COVID – 19 pandemic.</p><p>On 25 March Health the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced that hospitals will provide free car parking for our NHS staff who are going above and beyond every day in hospitals across England. On the same day, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government announced that local councils will offer free on-street and off-street car parking in local authority car parks to all NHS staff members, health or social care workers, and NHS Volunteer Responders during the COVID-19 emergency response.</p><p>When the pandemic begins to abate, the NHS will move from providing free parking to all its staff, to the Government’s commitment to offering free hospital car parking to key patient groups and NHS staff in certain circumstances. Measures include a temporary relaxation of the earnings rules (known as the Minimum Income Floor) for self-employed claimants who are sick or self-isolating according to Government guidance. The Government has extended this to all self-employed claimants, not just those directly impacted by the virus, ensuring those affected by the economic impact of the outbreak are supported.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>On 26 March, the Chancellor announced a world-leading scheme to support the UK’s self-employed affected by Covid-19. The Self-employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) will support self-employed individuals, including members of partnerships, whose income has been negatively impacted. We are regularly engaging with industry stakeholders, including the British Retail Consortium, to ensure they are well prepared and that their operations remain in line with the latest health guidance.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is working with the manufacturing sector to ensure additional personal protective equipment (PPE) can be provided to frontline workers as quickly as possible to ensure their safety. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/06/2020 answer text <p>We are grateful for the vital contributions critical workers are providing to essential public services, including healthcare workers, teachers and care professionals, who are at the forefront of the national effort to tackle coronavirus.</p><p>On 21 May, the Prime Minister announced NHS and health and care staff would be exempted from the Immigration Health Surcharge. Officials in the Home Office and the Department of Health and Social Care are working through how to implement this change.</p><p>NHS, health and care workers who have paid the Surcharge since the announcement will be refunded. Arrangements are being worked out and more details will be announced in due course.</p><p>More generally it is fair to expect people arriving in the UK to work in non-healthcare roles to make a contribution to the NHS services to which they gain immediate access.
