answer text
Where Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding is present on social housing over 18 metres in height, the Government is providing testing for local authorities and housing associations free of charge. If the screening tests indicate that such cladding would not meet the limited combustibility requirements of the current Building Regulations guidance, local authorities, housing associations and the fire and rescue service will determine the best course of action, communicating closely with residents. Where work is necessary to ensure the fire safety of social housing, we will ensure that lack of financial resources will not prevent it going ahead.
more like this

answer text
The latest results from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Profile show that the number of children who have achieved a good level of development at the end of reception is increasing year on year: 69.3% of children achieved a good level of development in 2016, compared to 66.3% in 2015, 60.4% in 2014 and 51.7% in 2013.

The evidence is clear that a high quality workforce has a significant impact on the quality of provision and outcomes for children. The Government published the Early Years Workforce Strategy in March 2017 to support the development of a well-qualified workforce with the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience. Further information can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-workforce-strategy

The strategy sets out:

actions we will take to improve the quality of early years training and access to continuous professional development; and

funding to support the sector to develop quality improvement support in partnership with schools and local authorities.

We are also exploring the content of the early learning goals and how the EYFS Profile might be improved to better assess a child’s level of development at the end of the early years, through the Department’s recent consultation on assessment arrangements in reception (part of the wider Primary Assessment Consultation).

The consultation closed on 22 June, and a Government response will be issued in due course.

answer text
The Government is firmly committed to improving the UK's air quality and cutting harmful emissions. This is one of the reasons why the UK has signed up to the National Emissions Ceiling Directive, which sets tougher legally binding ceilings for emissions of five major pollutants in 2020 and 2030. The Government is considering how all sectors of the UK economy, including industry, can contribute to these ambitious targets.

The UK remains a member of the EU until we leave, with full rights and obligations of membership. The Government is therefore participating as usual in the ongoing review process for the Large Combustion Plant Best Available Technique Reference Document (LCP BREF) to ensure that the standards placed on industry deliver benefits to human health and the environment balanced against the costs of implementation. Defra officials are currently examining the proposed LCP BREF ahead of the vote next month.

As the Prime Minister announced last year, our plans for the Great Repeal Bill will convert current EU law into domestic British law. Our intention is to ensure a smooth and orderly transition via the Great Repeal Bill and to provide as much certainty as possible by maintaining the existing laws. We will be providing further information on the Great Repeal Bill in due course.

The draft UK Air Quality Plan for tackling nitrogen dioxide will be published by 24 April.
