UK support will include the construction of six Ebola treatment centres across the country, providing 700 beds to treat 8,800 patients over the next six months.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In support of this effort, the UK has deployed 750 military personnel to Sierra Leone. This will support the deployment of RFA Argus and three Merlin helicopters which will provide crucial transport support to medical teams and aid experts. The effectiveness of Frontex is entirely reliant on the willingness of the Member States to make those resources available.</p><p> </p><p>Search and Rescue remains outside the competence of the EU or its Agencies, including Frontex.</p><p> </p><p>We expect the Member States to give a positive response to the request from Frontex for adequate resources to deliver the aims of Operation ‘Triton’. ‘Triton’ is a border management operation which operates closer to the European coast than the current Italian operation ‘Mare Nostrum’. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/10/2014 answer text <p>The Government believes that the best way to help EU Member States who are experiencing high levels of illegal migration and asylum claims is through practical co-operation and support to build up their capacity so they can cope with the pressures on their system. We already provide such support and will continue to do so, both through the European Asylum Support Office and bilaterally. DFID monitors the numbers of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Sahel region as part of routine humanitarian surveillance but does not specifically monitor routes followed by irregular migrants. There are no plans to set up such monitoring systems. Similarly DFID provides humanitarian support across the Sahel region to refugees and IDPs, with £12m to UNHCR for refugee support and £17.5m through ICRC in support of conflict affected people provided across the region since January 2013. DFID Ethiopia also is providing £0.5m support to Eritrean refugees. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/10/2014 answer text <p>A comprehensive needs assessment of the post-disaster recovery requirements stemming from this year’s floods was carried out by the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The EU, the UN and the World Bank supported this process by providing resources and technical support. The assessment reflects damages, effects, impact and needs across a range of sectors including agriculture, education, health, public services, housing, transportation and energy. It estimates that the economic impact of the floods was £1.62bn. A European Commission hosted donors’ conference in July raised £810m towards the rehabilitation effort.</p><p>The EU assistance to the flood response is currently €42m, plus €1m from the UN Development Programme (UNDP), which has gone to rebuild schools, houses and other community infrastructure. An additional tranche of €43m is due to be released to cover flood prevention and provide more housing assistance.</p><p>In addition to a £1.03m commitment for immediate humanitarian assistance, the British Government is due to release a further £1m to the flood response work through the UNDP. The British Government continues to stress to the Israeli authorities the damage that their restrictions are doing to the living standards of ordinary Palestinians in Gaza, and that supporting legal trade for Gazans is firmly in Israel’s long-term interests. We have also encouraged the Egyptian authorities to ease the movement of bona fide travellers through Rafah, and to consider expanding Rafah to goods transit in the medium term, which will help to ease humanitarian pressures. Friend the Member for Bournemouth East (Mr Ellwood), raised strong concerns over the plans to move the Bedouin population from Area C with the Israeli Justice Minister on 6 October during his visit to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories between 5-8 October The issue was also raised by officials from our Embassy in Tel Aviv in meetings with senior officials in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Israeli Prime Minister's Office. We regularly make clear, publicly and privately, to Israel our serious concerns about the actual or threatened demolition of Palestinian homes and infrastructure in the West Bank, and the need for a planning process that adequately addresses the needs of Palestinian communities. Demolitions cause unnecessary suffering to ordinary Palestinians; are harmful to the peace process; and are, in all but the most exceptional of cases, contrary to international humanitarian law. The Fourth Geneva Convention is clear that the destruction of any real or personal property in Occupied Territory is not justified unless it is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/10/2014 answer text <p>We regularly raise with the Lebanese Armed Forces and appropriate authorities the need to protect all refugees who are residing in the country.</p><p>The Lebanese Armed Forces have reported that Ahmed Dorra was killed while being transferred to the Dar Al Amal Hospital following clashes between the Lebanese Armed Forces and armed groups in the Lebanese border town or Arsal. We are continuing to work with local non-governmental organisations, including Human Rights Watch and the International Committee of the Red Cross to understand the exact circumstances of the case. Due to ongoing security restrictions in the geographical area, work to establish this continues.</p><p>We work with our Lebanese partners to promote democracy, stability and human rights in Lebanon.
