answer text <p>The public health grant to local authorities in England was £3.279 billion in 2020/21. Local authority funding, through the public health grant for 2021/22 will be maintained, meaning local authorities can continue to invest in prevention and essential frontline health services, including services that support public mental health. It is for local authorities to make funding decisions for public health services based on local population priorities, in line with the conditions attached to the grant including having regard to reducing health inequalities.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government recognises the vital role of all unpaid carers play during the pandemic, and we are working with carers organisations to assess and understand their needs and how best to support them.</p><p>We have:</p><p>- provided funding to Carers UK to extend their support phoneline;</p><p>- provided funding to Carers Trust to make onward grants to provide support to unpaid carers experiencing loneliness during the pandemic;</p><p>- produced a leaflet to help carers identify themselves on discharge from hospital;</p><p>- published guidance specifically for carers and young carers, which includes further information about sources of support including looking after their own health and wellbeing;</p><p>- funded the See, Hear, Respond service, delivered by Barnardo’s to provides rapid support to children, young people and families who are affected by COVID-19 and includes a dedicated young carers hub with helpful resources;</p><p>- worked with the Social Care Institute for Excellence to publish guidance on reopening day services which we know provide important respite to carers; and</p><p>- ensured unpaid carers can continue to claim Carer’s Allowance if they need to self-isolate and recognised time providing emotional support as part of the 35 hours a week Carers Allowance care threshold.</p>

answer text <p>The Government is committed to improving the lives of those affected by rare disease and continues to implement the commitments made in the United Kingdom Strategy for Rare Diseases which expired at the end of 2020. Recent developments include progress with Rare Diseases Collaborative Networks and work to strengthen partnerships for the National Congenital Anomaly and Rare Disease Registration Service. Details on NHS England progress can be viewed in their November 2020 Implementation Plan Progress Report.</p><p>The new UK Rare Diseases Framework was published on 9 January, which provides the high-level direction for rare diseases and replaces the previous strategy. The Department, alongside NHS England, continues to consider the impact of COVID-19 on patients with rare diseases.</p> more like this
