answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/01/2015 answer text <p>The Department of Communities and Local Government has the lead on tackling homelessness and rough sleeping. Formed in 2010, the Ministerial Working Group on Homelessness brings Departments together to ensure that Departments across Government play their part in tackling both the causes and consequences of homelessness. Throughout this Parliament, the group has worked together to coordinate action on the issues facing homeless people.</p><p> </p><p>The Government have increased spending to prevent and tackle rough sleeping and homelessness making over £500 million available, giving councils the funding and tools needed to take action against rough sleeping locally.</p><p> </p><p>There are a range of initiatives and projects in place to help rough sleepers, prevent single homelessness and to help those who have been homeless find and sustain accommodation.</p><p> </p><p>Thousands of vulnerable people, including military veterans, who have slept rough or faced with the prospect of doing so have been given the help they need through No Second Night Out and Streetlink<strong>.</strong> By using Streetlink the public can help connect rough sleepers to the local services available so they can get the help they need to get them off the streets. Since 2012 Streetlink has made nearly 21,000 rough sleeping referrals to councils with over 9,000 having positive outcomes (such as accessing services) of which nearly 1,800 have had a specific housing outcome.</p><p> </p><p>We have supported the roll-out of No Second Night Out nationally through the £20 million Homelessness Transition Fund for the voluntary sector ensuring rough sleepers are found quickly and that they do not spend more than one night on the street. In 20 key rough sleeping areas outside London 67% of rough sleepers were helped off the streets after a single night according to homelessness charities.</p><p> </p><p>We have launched an £8 million Help for Single Homeless Fund for local authorities which will improve council services for single people facing the prospect of homelessness. 34 projects, working across 168 local authorities, will provide support for up 22,000 single homeless people.</p><p> </p><p>Finally, the Government is helping single homeless people find and sustain accommodation in the private rented sector through our £13 million funding to Crisis. By 2016 we expect the Crisis scheme to have helped 10,000 single homeless people since it started in 2010.</p><p> </p><p>We work closely with Homeless Link, who represent homelessness charities across England, and attended the launch of their homelessness manifesto at a recent parliamentary reception.</p><p> </p><p>It is not for the Government itself to respond to the manifestos produced by Non-Governmental Organisations and pressure groups ahead of the general election, but we welcome the broader contribution to the debate.</p><p> </p> answering member printed Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon grouped question UIN HL4172 HL4174 question first answered 21/01/2015 16:08:01 answering member 4210 label Biography information for Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon

We raised the issue of access restrictions numerous times with the Israeli authorities between September and November last year. Since the middle of November, Muslims of all ages have been allowed to worship at Temple Mount/Haram al Sharif. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/01/2015 answer text While we have not raised these specific issues, we have repeatedly condemned Israel’s announcements to expand settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem. Officials from our Embassy in Tel Aviv regularly bring up the issue of settlements with the Israeli National Security Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence contacts. We are aware of an attack by the Israeli Defence Forces against “Hamas terror infrastructure” in the Khan Yunis area of southern Gaza after a rocket was fired into Israel from Gaza on 19 December. Our Ambassador discussed this matter with the Israeli Ministry of Defence. Officials from our Embassy in Tel Aviv regularly meet with the Israeli authorities – including the Israeli Office for the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories/Ministry of Defence and the National Security Adviser - to urge them to ease restrictions on Gaza, including the movement of commercial goods, and persons from and to the Gaza Strip. The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/01/2015 answer text <p>On 28 November, the Government joined EU Member States and African partners in Rome to agree a political declaration launching the new Khartoum Process, a joint initiative aimed at tackling people smuggling and human trafficking in the Horn of Africa. The UK is part of the core group of countries steering the development of concrete initiatives under this new process, the first meeting of which is expected to take place in February. The European Commission has already identified substantial funding of around £4.5 million to support this work.</p><p>The Khartoum Process is a key element of wider joint efforts under the EU’s Task Force Mediterranean to tackle continuing migratory pressures in the Mediterranean, prevent further loss of life at sea, provide enhanced protection in migrants’ regions of origin, and combat the heinous activities of the criminal gangs who facilitate dangerous voyages. Commentators have suggested that this law will make it difficult for independent television station, Dozhd, to survive. Increasing pressure on independent journalists and news outlets in Russia, including Dozhd, is of great concern. We regularly make our concerns clear in bilateral interactions at all levels. Most recently, I raised concerns about restrictions on the freedom of expression in Russia with the Russian Ambassador on 25 November. In October, the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Investigations by both the Special Investigations Unit of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Interior Ombudsman are ongoing.</p><p>We understand Mr Al Mouswi has been accused of a number of terrorist related charges. We urge any detainee who alleges to have been mistreated and/or tortured to contact the Ministry of Interior Ombudsman, the National Institute for Human Rights and the Prisoner and Detainee Rights Commission.</p><p>The unofficial referendum was called for by the Bahraini proscribed organisation, the 14 February Youth Coalition, who have been responsible for a number of bomb attacks in Bahrain. We understand that Turkey has closed a number of border crossings with Syria following the occupation of the Syrian side by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). We have regular discussions with the Turkish government about the threat posed by ISIL. The Prime Minister, my right hon.
