answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2023 answer text <p>The government takes seriously concerns regarding Artificial Grass Pitches (AGPs), specifically the presence of rubber infill. Following the UK’s exit from the EU, the regulatory framework for these matters now sits at a UK level (except for Northern Ireland, which will continue to follow EU REACH requirements).</p><p>The Department for Environment, Food &amp; Rural Affairs (DEFRA) commissioned an evidence project, under the UK REACH 2022/23 Work Programme, on intentionally added microplastics, including rubber infill. This will assess any risks they pose, and will inform any future regulatory actions in the UK.</p><p>The sports councils across the UK (Sport England, Sport Wales, sportscotland, Sport NI) are working together with leading sport bodies and respective governments to appropriately manage the transition away from rubber infill, and to identify suitable alternatives. We recognise there are efficiencies and service improvements that can be achieved by joined up working. Currently there are levers and activities that encourage coordinated activity. For example, requirements to cooperate when appropriate in relation to planning waste infrastructure and requirements for joint municipal waste management strategies in ‘two tier’ systems. Upcoming reforms for consistent collections will significantly support joint working by ensuring minimum requirements across all local authorities. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2023 answer text <p>The government is clear that antisemitism is abhorrent and has no place in higher education (HE), and our universities should be welcoming and inclusive environments.</p><p>HE providers have clear responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010, to adopt robust policies and procedures that enable them to investigate and swiftly address reports of antisemitism. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/09/2023 answer text <p>Education is a devolved matter, and the response outlines the information for England only.</p><p>The government recognises that registering as a childminder can be costly, and that the cost of registration can be a barrier for some prospective childminders. We are therefore introducing financial help in the form of grants.</p><p>The overall budget available for Childminder Start-up Grant Scheme is £7.2 million. This budget would be able to provide approximately 8,500 grants, based on the assumption that 75% of applicants will register with Ofsted and 25% will register with a Childminder Agency (CMA).</p><p>The scheme will provide grant funding of either £600 or £1,200 to new childminders upon the completion of registration activities. Childminders can register with either Ofsted or a CMA.</p><p>There is no target for this scheme. However, the department’s aim is to increase the number of childminders in the system. However, decisions about investment have to be made over a vast range of significant infrastructure projects across government. The Department regularly speaks to HM Treasury about investment in the education estate. It would be inappropriate to disclose the details requested of the sensitive negotiations between HM Treasury and the Department. It would only show part of the picture on a complex decision-making process that takes place between multiple departments, ministers, officials, and other individuals, and would not reflect that such a process has to look across the board at priorities. The full yearly amount of the basic State Pension will be over £3,050 higher, in cash terms, than in 2010. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2023 answer text <p>This Government has taken more proactive action on RAAC than any other in the UK.</p><p>It is the responsibility of those who run schools – academy trusts, Local Authorities, and voluntary aided school bodies – who work with their schools on a day to day basis, to manage the maintenance of their schools. These responsible bodies may deploy temporary buildings for a wide range of reasons, not all of which will relate to building or refurbishment works. In addition, most building and refurbishment works within schools and colleges do not involve RAAC and will not require the involvement of the Department. The Department does not therefore hold information on the number of schools using temporary classrooms.</p><p>Where schools need to vacate buildings due to RAAC, they use a range of different types of accommodation including accommodation on and off site. On site accommodation can include semi rigid structures and temporary classrooms. Where this is the case, the Department is working with three contractors to accelerate the installation of temporary units in particular. The Department has not, therefore, produced central estimates of the number of temporary classrooms required, however, we can confirm that we have secured significant capacity to meet current needs, and can increase this if necessary. Our focus is on working closely with individual settings to make sure they have workable plans for their individual circumstances and context.
