Unitary and upper tier local authorities have received a public health grant since
April 2013, when they assumed responsibility for public health functions and services
which had previously been undertaken by the NHS. Data prior to 2013 is therefore unavailable.
A table showing the information requested from 2013 is attached. The value of the
public health grant in 2013-14 and 2014-15 is not directly comparable to subsequent
years, because responsibility and funding for 0-5 year olds’ public health services
was transferred from the National Health Service to local government from 1 October
2015.
