answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2019 answer text <p>We have no current plans to establish a national fuel fund.</p><p>The Government provides support to those struggling with their gas and electricity bills through:</p><p>• The Warm Home Discount, which provides a £140 rebate to more than two million households;</p><p>• Winter Fuel Payments, that provides £200-300 to pensioners, ensuring that they can keep warm during the colder months; and</p><p>• Cold Weather Payments, which were automatically provided to more than one million households during winter 2018-19.</p><p>In addition, the default tariff cap protects all consumers on default tariffs from being overcharged and Ofgem’s safeguard price cap protects consumers on pre-payment meter tariffs.</p><p>The most sustainable approach to decreasing energy bills is improving energy efficiency.</p><p>• The Energy Company Obligation drives £640 million of investment annually into improving the efficiency of low income and vulnerable households.</p><p>• The Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards require landlords spend up to £3500 (including VAT) improving their rented properties to EPC Band E.</p> answering member printed Lord Henley question first answered 23/07/2019 13:45:57 answering member 2616 label Biography information for Lord Henley

Households where all adults are in work are around 6 times less likely to be in relative poverty than adults in a household where nobody works. Compared to 2010, there are 3.7 million more people in work and around 1 million fewer workless households.</p><p> </p><p>We have worked with food insecurity experts, the Office for National Statistics and the Scottish Government to introduce a new set of food security questions in the Family Resources Survey starting from April 2019. The nature of these demolitions which took place within an area of the West Bank controlled by the Palestinian Authority is particularly concerning and we continue to monitor the situation closely. We regularly make clear our serious concerns about the situation in East Jerusalem to the Israeli authorities, both bilaterally and in co-operation with EU partners. We are strongly opposed to any attempts to change the facts on the ground in the East Jerusalem. This funding will be split approximately 75%/25% between investment from central government (£594m) and Birmingham City Council and a number of its key partners in the region (£184m). Further funding will be raised from commercial revenue. This funding includes public contribution to the stadium and aquatics centre which are both currently subject to commercial negotiations.</p><p>A number of other infrastructure projects with funding from other sources will deliver benefits for the Games. Ahead of the European Parliamentary elections, the Government worked to enhance coordination and information sharing across HMG to ensure an effective response in the event of a significant disinformation threat.</p><p>We have seen no evidence of successful interference in UK democratic processes, but we are not complacent. We are at the forefront of a growing international consensus on the need to take action against disinformation, whatever its source or intent. We continue to spend over £95 billion a year on working age welfare benefits. We have a well-established system of hardship payments, benefit advances and budgeting loans for those who need extra support, and Jobcentre managers work closely with external partners to help vulnerable claimants. Our local government finance settlement means that over this year and next, councils will get over £10 billion in direct grants from central government to continue to offer a range of vital services to their local communities. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/07/2019 answer text <p>We welcome the recent Chatham House paper, and note the report’s concerns over alleged Assad regime interference in the delivery of humanitarian aid, including the risk of diverting aid for military and political purposes.</p><p> </p><p>Our aid contribution in Syria is targeted towards those most in need and distributed, impartially, in line with humanitarian principles. On this basis, our partners do work in regime-controlled areas. However, DFID does not work directly with the Assad regime, and our programmes have a range of safeguards in place to mitigate the risks of regime interference and aid diversion.</p><p> </p><p>These measures include independent third-party monitoring of programmes and tight financial controls, which include requiring our partners to record and provide detailed information and evidence about the use of funds.
