In a global context, as demand for more staff grows internationally, the United Kingdom’s current and historical dependence on recruitment of overseas staff is neither sustainable nor right as developing countries seek to retain their own much needed health care professionals. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/05/2018 answer text <p>The Government recognises fully the contribution that doctors working in the NHS – and other professionals – make to the UK.</p><p>Doctors in specialisms which the Migration Advisory Committee have recognised as being in shortage in the UK already receive priority within the Tier 2 allocation system. None of these roles, which include consultants specialising in clinical radiology and emergency medicine, have been refused places. We regularly engage with faith leaders and faith-based Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) in the UK and the MENA region to discuss the situation of religious communities.</p><p>In Syria through our Conflict, Stability and Security Fund, we are supporting projects to promote community cohesion and dialogue between different ethnic and religious groups. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/04/2018 answer text <p>The Department has made no assessment of the potential savings to be accrued to the public purse from the return of unused medicines to the National Health Service.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is concerned about wastage from unused medicines and is keen to minimise unnecessary extra costs. However, it does not promote the reuse of medicines that have left the pharmacy and been returned to a pharmacy by patients, as it is not possible to guarantee the quality of a returned medicine on physical inspection alone. The Government remains committed to supporting Nigeria to respond to humanitarian needs, and address the root causes of the conflict in the north-east of the country. Education is a crucial part of working towards a brighter future for the region.</p><p> </p><p>The UK and Nigeria have both endorsed the Safe Schools Declaration, which deters the military from use of schools and prevents schools becoming targets in conflict-affected areas. DFID is supporting the Government of Nigeria to implement the Declaration, including in the north-east.</p><p> </p><p>DFID supported the Safe School Initiative. According to the Government’s ‘Supporting Mental Health in Schools and Colleges survey’, 90% of schools offered staff training on supporting pupils' mental health and wellbeing (47% all staff, 43% at least some staff) and 49% had a dedicated lead for mental health. The survey can be viewed here: <a href="https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/664855/Transforming_children_and_young_people_s_mental_health_provision.pdf" target="_blank">https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/664855/Transforming_children_and_young_people_s_mental_health_provision.pdf</a>.</p><p> </p><p>The green paper ‘Transforming Children and Young People’s Mental Health Provision’, which is also attached, sets out proposals to improve support for schools to identify those pupils who need mental health support, backed with over £300 million of funding. As part of this, the Government will incentivise schools to put in place Designated Senior Leads (DSLs) for mental health, and will provide training on how to promote and support good mental health and wellbeing. DSLs will be supported by new, clinically supervised Mental Health Support Teams based in or near schools, which will provide support for those with mild to moderate needs, as well as better links to specialist NHS services for those who need them.
