answer text <p>The Ordsall Chord connects Manchester’s three main railway stations for the first time. It will enable more trains to run to Piccadilly from the south and will support new and direct services across the region. By 2020, passengers as far afield as Newcastle and Bradford will benefit from faster, more frequent journeys to Manchester Airport as a result of this new link.</p><p> </p><p>The corridor that includes Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road will increase from 12 to 15 trains per hour from May 2018. This increase in capacity is not linked to the building of the Ordsall Chord, it is as a result of changing the rules about how the corridor will operate.</p> more like this

answer text <p>There are 66 fully operational speed enforcement cameras on the motorway network and a further 24 are in final stages of installation/commissioning as the Department continues the rollout of new installations as part of Smart Motorways.</p><p> </p><p>Information on the number of speed enforcement cameras on ‘A’ roads which form part of the Strategic Road Network is not held centrally and the data would need to be sought from each safety camera partnership.</p><p> </p><p>Cameras on other roads are a matter for each local highway authority and no estimate has been made of the total number of active safety cameras.</p> more like this

answer text <p>As the independent regulator, the ORR has consumer law powers to protect passengers’ rights. The Government, in its guidance to ORR this July, made clear that the ORR should use these powers to hold industry to account.</p><p> </p><p>In June, ORR published the results of its audit of train operator websites against the Retail Code of Practice, and has identified areas for improvement in its consumer report. answer text <p>The Rail Ombudsman is being introduced on a voluntary basis. In this way, the scheme will be delivered far more quickly than could be achieved through a compulsory route, enabling the benefits to be felt by passengers as soon as possible. The Rail Delivery Group issued a press release on 4 August 2017 confirming that the train companies have collectively committed to introducing a new independent ombudsman to investigate and rule on unresolved customer complaints.</p> more like this
