answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/07/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>My Rt Hon Friend the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills has made no assessment of the effect of funding for medical research in a separate Scotland.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The <em>Scotland Analysis: Science and Research</em> report published in November 2013 examined the current UK framework for funding, infrastructure, coordination and collaboration. It demonstrated that Scottish research has thrived within this system – for example regularly receiving a higher percentage of Research Council funding when compared to UK population share.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The same holds true for research charities. In 2011 Scotland received 13% of all investment made by members of the Association of Medical Research Charities.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The evidence shows that being part of the UK complements and strengthens Scotland's world-class research base.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK Government's position is clear: if Scotland left the UK, the current framework for research could not continue. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/07/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>Defra has in place monitoring to inform our understanding of the conservation status of certain marine habitats and species, much of which is in response to EU legislation. We also continue to support the Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership which brings together scientists, government, its agencies and NGOs to provide co-ordinated advice on climate change impacts around our coast and in our seas. Further, we have recently consulted on proposals for monitoring the state of the marine environment, including marine animals, under the provisions of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. We will be publishing our response to that consultation shortly.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Defra currently has no plans to specifically assess the impact of potential changes in populations of marine animals as a result of climate change on levels of tourism. Our approach is set out in our strategy, ‘Call to End Violence <br>Against Women and Girls' published in November 2010, together with a supporting <br>Action Plan. A revised version of the Action Plan was published in March 2014 <br>and contains 150 actions across Government departments.<br><br>For the first time, this Government has put stable funding in place, ring-fencing nearly<br>£40 million for specialist local domestic and sexual violence support services, rape<br>crisis centres, and national helplines. This includes £20,000 funding provided <br>by the Home Office for the provision of an Independent Domestic Violence Adviser at Peterborough City Council, and £10,000 to the Cambridgeshire Sexual Assault Referral Centre, and £30,000 per financial year 2011-2014, increased to<br>£45,000 for 2014/2015 and 2015/2016, provided by the Ministry of Justice to <br>Peterborough Rape Crisis. <br><br>This Government is committed to driving improvements in the police response to <br>victims of domestic violence. That is why, last September, the Home Secretary <br>commissioned Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) to conduct an <br>all force review of domestic violence. HMIC published its findings on 27 March <br>2014 and highlighted serious failings in the police response. In response to <br>the review, the Home Secretary is leading a series of measures to improve the <br>police response. This includes establishing a new National Oversight Group, <br>which she chairs and on which I sit.
