answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/10/2014 answer text <p>NHS Blood and Transport (NHSBT) manages the British Bone Marrow Registry (BBMR), the NHS Cord Blood Bank and provides specialist services related to the provision of stem cells which can turn into blood cells for the treatment of blood cancers and is responsible for raising awareness of these issues.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHSBT recruits stem cell donors to the BBMR exclusively from the pool of active blood donors (aged 17 years and above), however those wishing to join at age 16, can do so through Anthony Nolan.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>All registered stem cell donors are in the UK's aligned Register. Anthony Nolan manages this single UK bone marrow register, which is known as the 'Anthony Nolan &amp; NHS Stem Cell Registry', and is aligned with the NHS British Bone Marrow Registry and the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NHSBT has programmes in place to support education about donation and transplantation for children and young adults including Give and Let Live, a national education programme aimed at promoting awareness of bone marrow, blood, tissue, cord blood and organ donation amongst 14-16 year old pupils.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Within the UK strategy ‘Taking Organ Transplantation to 2020’ (published in July 2013 and available at www.nhsbt.nhs.uk/to2020/), the UK Government Health Departments have agreed to explore with Education Departments the possibility of incorporating donation and transplantation into schools’ curricula.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p> answering member constituency Battersea answering member printed Jane Ellison question first answered 15/10/2014 16:07:50 answering member 3918 label Biography information for Jane Ellison

Better Bus Area proposals involved a broad range of interventions including, in some cases, the introduction of audio visual systems on selected bus services. Schemes were anticipated to take 2 years to finalise, with a completion date of 31 March 2014. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/09/2014 answer text <p>The Improving Permanence for Looked-after Children consultation included proposals to amend the processes local authorities must undertake when children return home from care.</p><p>Any reforms must strike the right balance between clarity in the statutory framework and professional judgement on the part of social workers and local authorities in meeting the needs of children. Some respondents questioned how these proposals would fit with existing statutory guidance in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2013. The Government is grateful for these comments and is looking again at some of the proposals.
