answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/12/2023 answer text <p>The Government takes the security of its supply chain extremely seriously and has taken action to bolster the powers to intervene where a risk to national security has been identified.</p><p>The Procurement Act 2023 received Royal Assent on 26 October 2023 and will strengthen the security framework around public procurement. It includes new powers to ban suppliers from specific sectors, such as areas related to defence and national security, while allowing them to continue to win procurements in non-sensitive areas. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/12/2023 answer text <p>We do not routinely collect the required data to estimate the number of women and girls from Eastern Europe who were trafficked to the UK and were subsequently compelled or forced to commit criminal acts.</p><p> </p><p>In 2022, 479 females were referred to the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) who reported criminal exploitation, either partly or wholly.</p><p> </p><p>For adult victims of modern slavery who enter the NRM, the Home Office funds the Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract (MSVCC), contracted to spend £379 million over 5 years, to provide specialist support through the provision of safehouse accommodation, support-worker contact and financial assistance.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, between 2016 and March 2023, the Home Office has spent over £37 million through the Modern Slavery Fund to combat modern slavery overseas and reduce the threat of human trafficking to the UK.<strong> </strong></p> answering member constituency Newbury answering member printed Laura Farris question first answered 19/12/2023 10:01:45 answering member 4826 label Biography information for Laura Farris

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/12/2023 answer text <p>Each fire and rescue authority and police force is responsible for identifying and planning for the foreseeable risks in their area, including risks relating to organisational security.</p><p>Operational security decisions are made independently by Fire and Police chiefs, who are consistently seeking to identify, plan for, and mitigate against reasonably foreseeable operational risks.</p><p>The Government provides guidance on best practice and due diligence to the public sector, for the procurement of supplier contracts through <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-the-model-services-contract" target="_blank">Governments Model Services Contract Guidance.</a></p><p>The Home Office works closely with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) in relation to the cyber security of Fire and Police Services. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/12/2023 answer text <p>The UK takes its national security extremely seriously and has taken robust action to secure its critical infrastructure and resilience. For security reasons, we do not comment on specific prison security measures.</p><p> </p><p>The National Security and Investment Act allows the Government to intervene where foreign direct investment is targeted at innovative UK companies. Where such investment is within critical sectors, it is mandatory to notify the Government and this is subject to thorough assessment by the national security community. The Procurement Bill will also provide powers for the Government to exclude and debar companies from public procurement where the Government assesses there to be an intolerable national security risk.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, the Government has taken specific action on Chinese-made devices on the Government estate. The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster published a Written Ministerial Statement in November 2022 detailing instructions for departments to disconnect such surveillance equipment from core departmental networks, where it had been produced by companies subject to the National Intelligence Law of China.
