answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/05/2023 answer text <p>The British High Commission in Islamabad is responsible for operational decision-making in relation to managing the accommodation and other support provided to those in Pakistan.</p><p> </p><p>The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is responsible for supporting the movement of eligible persons out of Afghanistan and into third countries, assessing eligibility of applications under ARAP, and referring eligible persons with a Defence connection to charitable partners for Operation NEWHOPE support.</p><p> </p><p>ARAP eligible individuals are provided with accommodation, food, medical treatment, and dedicated support from a team of MOD &amp; FCDO caseworkers in Pakistan while they await relocation to the UK. question text	To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, which Department or agency is responsible for acquiring accommodation in the UK for ARAP-eligible Afghan nationals in British High Commission-funded hotels in Pakistan; and what the Government's timeline is for the acquisitions to meet the (a) demand and (b) the future need of those people eligible who are based in Afghanistan.

It is vital that those arriving have somewhere suitable to stay once they are in the UK. We have started issuing three month notice periods to resettled Afghans living in hotels and serviced accommodation, alongside guidance explaining next steps and the extensive government support available so they can find their own accommodation.
