answer text <p>Electrical equipment, including electromagnetic radiation emitting devices, sold in the UK must be safe to comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994. European harmonised standards, including EN62471:2008, are not mandatory, but offer one route to meeting the requirements of the legislation.</p><p> </p><p>Enforcement of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations is undertaken by Local Authority Trading Standards for consumer products, and the Health and Safety Executive for commercial and industrial products.</p><p> </p><p>Where use of electro-magnetic radiation within the optical region of the spectrum could present a hazard in the workplace, employers must comply with the Control of Artificial Optical Radiation Regulations, which are enforced by the Health and Safety Executive.</p> more like this

The regulations impose requirements concerning the safety of products ensuring that only safe products are placed on the market.</p><p> </p><p>With respect to virtual reality headsets we would therefore expect the manual accompanying the product to give clear advice and carry appropriate warnings, including age appropriateness of the user etc. (and we believe this is generally the case).</p><p> </p><p>I therefore do not feel the need to take extra steps to raise awareness but will keep the situation under review.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Superfast broadband is now available to over 80% of UK homes and businesses, up from 45% in 2010. The UK Broadband Impact Study - Impact Report<em> </em>estimated that the availability and take-up of faster broadband speeds through programmes that had been delivered or were in the delivery phase at that time will add about £17 billion to the UK’s annual Gross Value Added (GVA) by 2024. This level of uplift contributes an average of 0.07 percentage points to real annual GVA growth over this period. answer text <p>From 1 January 2016 the government is also introducing a new surcharge on banking sector profits, phasing the reduction in the bank levy rate, and changing the scope of the bank levy.<br><br>Together these changes taxes will raise the following from the sector:<br><br>2015/16 : £3.7 billion<br>2016/17 : £4.0 billion<br>2017/18 : £4.3 billion<br><br>The Office for Budget Responsibility has published its forecast of the revenue raised by the bank levy in its Economic and Fiscal forecast. The changes are forecast to increase tax receipts from the banking sector by around £2 billion over the scorecard period.</p> more like this
