answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/02/2019 answer text <p>The Controlling Migration Fund opened in November 2016 with the aim of easing pressures on local services linked to recent migration and providing targeted immigration enforcement activity.</p><p>Until 2020 the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has contributed £100 million of funding, with the Home Office contributing £40 million worth of enforcement activity.</p><p>To date the MHCLG element of the fund has approved £73.6 million for projects covering tackling rogue landlords; building cohesion and integration within communities; supporting learning of English language; building capacity to support unaccompanied asylum seeking children; establishing Local Authority Asylum Support Liaison Officers to help new refugees transition from government-funded support into mainstream society and a Modern Day Slavery pilot in 6 local authorities to support the transition process of victims leaving safe houses.</p><p>The deadline for applications to the final round of the MHCLG element of the programme was 1 October last year. We received 149 bids from local authorities for the remaining £26.4 million of available funding. Of this between £40,000 - £50,000 is being spent on projects relating to public health effects of drug use and abuse. This does not include the Newton Agham Programme or the Prosperity Fund which are not focused on health.</p><p>The projects are not specifically aimed at prisons and detention centres, although our Embassy in Manila does make regular consular representations on prison and detention centres in the Philippines.</p><p>In addition to bilateral spend, in 2016, the Philippines received £8.36 million of UK aid through multilateral organisations. In August 2018, Mr Field raised our concerns with several Philippine Ministers during his trip to Manila.</p><p>In November 2018 a senior official from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office called on the Government of the Philippines to ensure thorough and independent investigations into deaths relating to the war on drugs and deaths of human rights defenders, and to commit to bringing those responsible to justice. The British Embassy in Manila consistently champions democratic values, including the independence of the judiciary and a free parliamentary opposition. Cases of harassment of high profile political opponents are regularly raised with the Government of the Philippines. We have also raised our concerns about media freedom and action taken against the media organisation Rappler. We are closely monitoring the situation in North East Syria. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/02/2019 answer text <p>Irish citizens residing in the UK do not need to do anything to protect their status in the UK, either before or after the UK leaves the EU. They will continue to be able to enter and reside in the UK and to enjoy their existing rights as provided for by the long-standing Common Travel Area (CTA) arrangements.</p><p>The UK Government has been clear since the EU Exit Referendum that these rights will be protected. The Home Secretary reaffirmed during the second reading of the Immigration and Social Security Coordination Bill that the rights of Irish citizens to enter and remain in the UK are protected. This position has been set out in various Government publications including Northern Ireland-Ireland Position paper (August 2017) and The UK’s future skills-based immigration system White Paper (December 2018). They also provide for British citizens in Ireland and Irish citizens in the UK to be able to work in either country without any requirement to obtain permission from the authorities.</p><p>These arrangements pre-date membership of the EU.
