answer text
The issuing of firearms licences is a devolved matter overseen by the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland. The Secretary of State has a limited role relating to certain appeals against the decision of the Chief Constable not to issue firearms licences. He has not been involved in any recent discussions with the PSNI on this issue, however, Northern Ireland Office officials engage with PSNI colleagues on a regular basis. The Hon Member will know that Northern Ireland Office ministers are not an alternative to functioning devolved government and I hope he will use his considerable influence to promote the restoration of a Northern Ireland Executive so that matters such as this may be dealt with in the proper manner.

more like this

answer text
There are currently 94 elective surgical hubs operational across the National Health Service in England. Of those, 63 have implemented unique data codes which allow for their activity to be measured separately from the wider activity of the hospital trust which runs the hub. As of the week ending 30 July 2023, the most recent available data, these 63 hubs have delivered 10,253 elective procedures and 41,067 outpatient appointments.

Implementation of the unique site codes for the remaining 31 hubs is ongoing and is expected to be completed by November 2023. The total number of elective procedures and outpatient appointments above is therefore likely to be an underestimate of total activity.
more like this

All suppliers are awarded onto the framework, with evaluation based on the most economically advantageous tender (MEAT). Financial and non-financial evaluations are undertaken independently of each other. When a trust selects a supplier, the trust will evaluate potential suppliers on the framework, evaluating the subjective, qualitative features of ease of use, comfort, comparative reduction in leakages, quality of life and health outcomes.

NHS Supply Chain are currently in the process of working on two separate value-based procurement projects, both of which aim to concentrate on leaks, reduction in mobility, loss of dignity, reduction in quality of life, or risk of skin infections and pressure ulcers.

The Government's new Medical Technology Strategy, published in February 2023, set out how the health and social care system can reliably access safe, effective and innovative medical technologies that support the continued delivery of high-quality care, outstanding patient safety and excellent patient outcomes in a way that makes the best use of taxpayer money. To deliver value for money and affordability across the whole patient pathway, DHSC, NHS Supply Chain and NHS England are building on work to develop a consistent methodology for value-based procurement of innovative products.
