answer text <p>The Libraries Taskforce, jointly established by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the Local Government Association, published Libraries Deliver: Ambition for Public Libraries in England 2016-2021 in December 2016. This strategy sets out 7 strategic Outcomes that libraries support, one of which is increasing digital access and literacy, and it highlights a range of initiatives through which libraries support digital skills, access, skills and related work. This document was produced following extensive consultation with the sector and stakeholders. The UK Digital Strategy also underlined the importance of libraries as a ‘go to provider’ for digital skills training.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Defra is working closely with the research councils and is funding research to improve our understanding of the role of soil biodiversity in contributing to soil condition. This research includes a Defra-funded review of the current available UK-affiliated evidence base. The Report of the review was published in March and has been placed in the House Library.</p><p> </p><p>We are looking closely at its findings, including whether there is a need to carry out analysis of trends in biodiversity in order to understand better how the functions it supports, such as soil structure, water movement, nutrient dynamics and plant growth, contribute to soil condition across a range of ecosystem services and management practices.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>As part of their Retirement Income Market Study, the Financial Conduct Authority have committed to monitoring the retirement market in order to assess consumer behaviour and outcomes; and to use their wide-ranging powers to intervene where necessary. answer text <p>The Government is committed to closing the attainment gap between disadvantaged children and their peers. Grammar schools and the highest performing non-selective schools currently have some of the lowest representations of children eligible for free school meals in England. We want to encourage all high performing schools, including grammar schools to do more to attract and support disadvantaged children.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Education is working with the Grammar Schools Heads Association to develop a programme to:</p><p> </p><p>a. support those grammar schools that are academies and that are considering giving admissions priority to pupils eligible for free school meals;</p><p> </p><p>b. introduce entrance tests that more accurately measure a child's potential and thus avoid the need for prior coaching; and</p><p> </p><p>c. work with local primary schools to raise standards for deprived children and increase parental engagement.</p> more like this
