answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/09/2024 answer text <p>Over the next five years we expect over 12 million pensioners are likely to see their State Pensions increase by thousands of pounds as a result of our commitment to the Triple Lock.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, the Government will invest an extra £6.6 billion over this Parliament in clean heat and energy efficiency through the Warm Homes Plan, upgrading five million homes through solutions like low carbon heating and improved insulation to reduce emissions and cut bills.</p><p> </p><p>The Household Support Fund is also being extended for a further six months, from 1 October 2024 until 31 March 2025.   An additional £421 million will be provided to enable the extension of the HSF in England, plus funding for the Devolved Governments through the Barnett formula to be spent at their discretion, as usual.</p><p>The Warm Home Discount scheme in England and Wales provides eligible low-income households across Great Britain with a £150 rebate on their electricity bill. This winter, we expect over three million households, including over one million pensioners, to benefit under the scheme.</p><p>We know there are low-income pensioners who aren’t claiming Pension Credit, and we urge those people to apply. This will passport them to receive Winter Fuel Payment alongside other benefits – hundreds of pounds that could really help them. We will ensure that the poorest pensioners get the support they need.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Over the past two years, energy bills have fallen. Between 1 October to 31 December 2024 Ofgem’s energy price cap is set at £1717 per year for a typical household. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/06/2022 answer text <p>The UK is deeply concerned by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)'s latest report and agrees with the assessment of the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar. The UK is prioritising meeting the humanitarian needs of the most vulnerable communities across Myanmar. Since the coup the UK has provided £24 million in humanitarian assistance in the border regions. Humanitarian access is, however, extremely challenging which has left many hundreds of thousands unassisted in hard to reach and remote areas.</p><p>The UK works closely with OCHA and have provided £4.6 million since the coup to the OCHA-managed Myanmar Humanitarian Fund to address displacement across the country. The first 12 months of a refugee's resettlement costs are funded by central government using the Official Development Assistance budget. The year 1 funding is a per person tariff of £8,520. The Government has committed £129m to assist with local authority costs over years 2-5 of the scheme. This will be allocated on a tariff basis over four years. Local authorities will receive £12,000 per person overall for years 2-5; tapering from £5,000 in year 2, to £3,700 in year 3, to £2,300k in year 4 and £1,000k in year 5. There will also be an exceptional cases fund to assist the most vulnerable refugees.</p><p> </p><p>Local authorities participating in both Resettlement Programmes are responsible for securing accommodation for families prior to their arrival. This loan has been designed to provide a contribution to costs for students and the £10,000 maximum will apply to all eligible courses regardless of course length.</p><p>We have no current plans to offer larger loans for students on longer courses.</p><p>Other sources of finance for students include:</p><ul><li>Professional Career Development Loans of between £300 and £10,000 are bank loans and are available to eligible students for postgraduate study. The Government has revised the national curriculum and set more rigorous and challenging content in English and mathematics to match the highest performing countries around the world. The new programmes of study for English and maths will challenge pupils to realise their potential in an increasingly competitive global market.</p><p> </p><p>The new maths GCSE will have more content, be more challenging and – alongside English - will be double weighted in school performance tables. The Department has recently allocated £11 million to fund <del class="ministerial">over</del> 32 new maths hubs to support a more challenging maths GCSE to improve the quality of maths education. This initiative, which includes a teacher exchange programme with Shanghai, will enable every school and college in England, from early years to the post-16 sector, to access locally-tailored support in all areas of maths teaching and learning.</p><p> </p><p>The new national curriculum for English places a greater emphasis on reading and requires pupils to study a range of books, poems and plays.</p><p>The national curriculum for English will give teachers greater flexibility and freedom which will help to raise standards and expectations for all pupils. It has been significantly slimmed down and will free up teachers to use their professional judgement to design curricula that meet the needs of their pupils.</p><p> </p><p>The new English language GCSE will place greater demands on pupils and has more emphasis on those skills demanded by employers.
