answer text <p>Apprenticeships will have an important role to play in creating employment opportunities, particularly for young people, and supporting employers in all sectors to access the skilled workforce they need to recover and grow post COVID-19. We are looking to support employers of all sizes, and particularly smaller businesses, to take on new apprentices this year. We will set out further details in due course. We will also ensure that there is sufficient funding to support small businesses wanting to take on an apprentice this year.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department does not hold or collect data on how many schools in England and Wales offer coding as an extracurricular activity.</p><p>The Government has supported extracurricular coding initiatives, such as Code Club, which benefitted from funding through the Cabinet Office’s Centre for Social Innovation Action Fund. Additionally, coding has been part of the English National Curriculum at all four Key Stages since 2014. The computing curriculum includes the basics of programming, and encourages pupils to design computer programs. All maintained schools must follow the computing curriculum and academies and free schools may use it as a benchmark.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We have recently published a report, carried out on our behalf by Ipsos MORI that considers the availability of flood insurance for small businesses in areas of high flood risk.</p><p> </p><p>The study found that uptake of insurance in small and medium sized businesses is high, with 95% of businesses having commercial insurance cover and only 2.5% reporting any difficulties in accessing insurance.</p><p> </p><p>The report is available on-line on the science and research section of Defra’s website, under the heading “Affordability and Availability of Flood Insurance – FD2688”.</p><p> </p><p>We continue to keep this important issue under review.</p> more like this
