question text	Her Majesty's Government (1) what assessment they have made of the number of COVID-19 related deaths in care homes in England and Wales between 10 April and 29 May as documented by the Office of National Statistics; (2) what assessment they have made of the statistics published by the Data Analysis Bureau and Person Centred Software that, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, 15 per cent of care home staff have been tested and 62 per cent of care homes have not had any staff receive tests; and (3) what plans they have to review their statement on 15 May that they would ensure the testing of residents and employees at all care homes in England by the beginning of June.

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/02/2018 answer text <p>The department published an Invitation to Bid (ITB) for a grant to run a support service to the Free Schools Programme on 14 December 2017. The ITB was published on the Contracts Finder portal of the GOV.UK website. This is the standard advertising medium used for grants across the public sector.</p><p>The closing date for bids was midnight on 19 January 2018. Departmental officials will assess all bids received by the deadline against the selection criteria in the ITB. The final decision on awarding the grant rests with my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State. question text	To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the Department for Education’s electronic eligibility checking system to encourage more parents to take their child’s free school meal entitlement.

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/02/2017 answer text <p>The Department for Education introduced the eligibility checking system (ECS) to reduce administrative burden and bureaucracy; speed up the eligibility checking process; and to encourage take-up of Free School Meals (FSM) by removing stigma from the application process. The ECS has been incredibly successful and is used by every local authority in England. The introduction of the ECS has reduced the time normally taken to check eligibility from several weeks to a matter of minutes in most cases, massively speeding up the process to ensure free meals are swiftly made available to the most disadvantaged students. No research has been conducted specifically looking at the link between the introduction of the ECS and FSM take-up, however, we do know that under-registration dropped by 3 percentage points[1] from 2012 to 2013.</p><p> </p><p>There are numerous reasons why a parent/child might not claim for a free meal to which they are entitled, and we are exploring what opportunities exist in the longer term to improve the way in which disadvantaged pupils are identified and to make the free school meals registration processes even more efficient.</p><p> </p><p>[1] Furtehr details are available in the attached document.</p> answering member printed Lord Nash question first answered 02/02/2017 15:35:47 answering member 4270 label Biography information for Lord Nash attachment 1 file name Pupils_not_claiming_Free_School_Meals_-_2013.pdf title Pupils_Not_Claiming_Free_School_meals_-_2013
