answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/03/2024 answer text <p>At Spring Budget 2024, the government announced that Landfill Tax rates in England and Northern Ireland will be adjusted from 1 April 2025. This will restore their value following a period of high inflation which was not foreseen by the OBR when rates were pre-announced.</p><p>The government remains committed to tackling waste crime which is a blight on local communities, harms the environment and undermines legitimate businesses operating in the sector.</p><p>The government agreed with the Public Accounts Committee’s recommendation that the current ongoing review of Landfill Tax takes account of incentives to commit waste crime. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/02/2024 answer text <p>Defence continues to work at pace with experts across Government and reference other schemes, such as the Canadian scheme, to establish an appropriate scheme for the financial award, working within the £50 million limit recommended in the independent review.</p><p> </p><p>Defence is still considering how to best implement the recommendation; no specific decision has yet been taken about the mechanism for this, and development of the scheme is at an early stage. Defence cannot yet confirm the details, the expected number of claimants, its eligibility and application process, or the likely size of awards. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/12/2023 answer text <p>Smoking is responsible for around 80,000 deaths a year in the United Kingdom and causes around one in four cancer deaths in the UK. It also costs our country £17 billion a year and puts a huge burden on the National Health Service.</p><p>This is why the Government is planning to create a smokefree generation by bringing forward legislation so that children turning 14 years old or younger this year will never be legally sold tobacco products. On 12 October 2023, we launched a UK-wide consultation to gather views on these proposals and their implementation. This, alongside regular engagement with the retail sector, will help to shape the proposals and ensure we provide support to retail workers to implement the future legislation.</p><p>We are also providing £5 million this year and £15 million thereafter to support new national marketing campaigns.
