As part of this change, the four companies within the Regiment have adopted the name, cap badge and dress of their new affiliated Regular Regiment.

In the case of A (London Scottish) Company which redesignated as G (Messines) Company, it has become the Reserve Company of the Scots Guards and has adopted the cap badge and dress of this regiment.

Whilst there has not been a forecast of the impact on recruitment, the redesignation should provide the soldiers in G (Messines) Company with more opportunities to deploy on operations and exercises alongside their regular counterparts. Coupled with the Guards brand, it is therefore expected that there will be a positive impact on recruitment and retention.
more like this

answer text
Pesticides can only be used if they are authorised and this process addresses the issues identified in these studies. Authorisation of each pesticide product depends on the outcome of a detailed risk assessment which includes impacts on people, animals and the environment. If there are found to be unacceptable risks to, for example, pollinators and aquatic invertebrates, the product is not authorised. A specific pesticide which posed unacceptable risks to non-target organisms would not be authorised. This process considers effects on local populations of insects and so limits the risks to other animals such as birds that feed on them.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) lies at the heart of our approach to maximise the use of non-chemical control techniques and minimise the use of chemical pesticides. IPM means that pesticide users can reduce the associated risks (including indirect effects), combat pest resistance, and support agricultural productivity. This includes increasing the use of nature-based, low toxicity solutions and precision technologies, with potential to enhance biodiversity, including to benefit pollinators.

Our approach is detailed in the draft revised ‘National Action Plan for the Sustainable Use of Pesticides’ (NAP), which sets out the ambition to improve indicators of pesticide usage, risk and impacts. This was the subject of a recent public consultation, with over 1500 responses now being analysed. The summary of responses will be published by the end of summer 2021 and the revised NAP later this year.

Furthermore, our new schemes that reward the delivery of environmental benefits ‘The Sustainable Farming Incentive’, the ‘Local Nature Recovery scheme’ and the ‘Landscape Recovery scheme’ will encourage actions that support IPM and biodiversity, including conserving and enhancing habitats for bees and other pollinators.

While the security situation in Iraq has greatly improved since violence peaked in 2006-2007, Iraqi civilians have been victim to Daesh’s atrocities since the summer of 2014. We utterly condemn such violence and call for those responsible to be brought to justice. answer text
The Government has carefully considered the issue of Psychoactive drugs. Last year the Home Office commissioned an expert panel to consider the issue and approaches to tackling New Psychoactive Substances (NPS).

The NPS expert panel carefully considered the available evidence of different legislative approaches to tackling New Psychoactive Substances. Informed by the evidence on new psychoactive substances and responding to the ease of their availability in the absence of a comprehensive legal framework, the Panel recommended the Government consider a blanket ban similar to the general prohibition approach in Ireland, enacted by their Criminal Justice (Psychoactive Substances) Act 2010. Recognising that the legislative approach alone was not a panacea the panel also considered the education, prevention and treatment response to NPS and made a series of comprehensive recommendations. A report by an expert panel in Scotland in February 2015 and a Welsh Government inquiry by the Health and Social Care Committee in the National Assembly for Wales which reported in March 2015 reached similar conclusions.
