answer text
Despite claims by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) that forcibly repatriated refugees are well treated and reintegrated into DPRK society, it is clear from UN and NGO reports that they are often mistreated by the authorities. The UN Human Rights Council resolution on the situation of human rights in the DPRK, which the UK cosponsored in April 2023, urges the DPRK to ensure their citizens who are expelled or repatriated to the country are able to return in safety, dignity and are treated humanely.
more like this

answer text
A combination of factors has resulted in extended timeframes in Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) assessment of clinical trial applications and amendments, in particular the loss of experienced staff and the need to recruit and train new staff. The MHRA understands the vital importance to patients and the public as well as researchers and developers of efficient clinical trials approvals, and over the summer it has taken urgent action to address delays to clinical trial approval.

Applicants will have seen increased rates of assessment in all key areas, as the MHRA focused considerable resources within the agency to deliver accelerated improvements to timescales for clinical trial assessments. The MHRA has made significant progress and most delayed applications have now been processed.

From 31 July to 1 September 2023, the MHRA assessed 1,185 applications for initial clinical trials and amendments. This demonstrates the significant effort that the MHRA has made to address backlogs and move back to assessment in statutory timescales. From 1 September 2023 all newly received fully compliant applications are being assessed within statutory timeframes.

answer text
The British Museum has 8 million objects in its collection, with 4.5 million currently on the Museum’s public database. The Museum is undertaking an ongoing digitisation project which will ensure that all the objects in its care will be catalogued and available to its global audience on its public database.

The Museum’s collections from Africa are well-catalogued, to the benefit of the public and researchers from across the world. The Museum undertakes extensive research into its collections, including in partnership with African institutions. This is available online at: https://www.britishmuseum.org/research/projects.

The British Museum also has strong links with a variety of African partners. Since 2005, through the Africa Programme, the Museum has worked collaboratively with partner institutions to deliver training and workshops in museum practice in a number of African countries. Colleagues from across Africa also travel to the UK for project-based work placements at the Museum and in its partner museums across the UK. The world-leading annual International Training Programme run by the Museum also offers opportunities for African colleagues to meet peers from global heritage institutions.
