answer text
We believe peace will only come through negotiations between the parties, but international action has a role in facilitating progress. We have long supported balanced UN resolutions, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 that addressed incitement and settlements. But resolutions that politicise neutral UN bodies or risk hardening positions on both sides, do little to advance peace or mutual understanding. We believe that imposing sanctions on Israel or supporting anti-Israeli boycotts would not support our efforts to progress the peace process and achieve a negotiated solution.
more like this

answer text
The Government’s ambition for the broadband Universal Service Obligation (USO) is that it should be set initially at 10 megabits per second. The rationale for the USO is to provide a ‘digital safety net’ to ensure that every home and business is able to access a fast broadband.

A broadband USO set at 10 megabits per second is higher than anywhere else in Europe. Spain, for example, has set their USO at 1 megabit per second, and Finland and Malta at 2 and 4 megabits per second respectively. We expect that the USO speed will need to increase over time beyond 10 megabits per second and are committed to keeping this under review to make sure that it keeps pace with consumers’ needs.
more like this

answer text
DFID does not have a bilateral aid programme to Sri Lanka. In 2012 the UK spent just over £5 million for activities in Sri Lanka. This included work on demining, police training, language rights, and human rights; and was allocated mostly through the Foreign Office, central departments in the Department for International Development, and the Conflict Pool. Information on allocations for work in Sri Lanka for the next 5 years is not available.

more like this
