answer text
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) makes recommendations on whether all new medicines, including advanced therapeutic medicinal products (ATMPs), should be routinely funded by the National Health Service based on an assessment of clinical and cost effectiveness. The NHS is legally required to fund those medicines which NICE recommends.

NICE has recommended the majority of the ATMPs evaluated to date, often following commercial agreements negotiated by NHS England and manufacturers. The Innovative Medicines Fund launched earlier this year and the existing Cancer Drugs Fund also support early patient access to ATMPs while further evidence is collected to address clinical uncertainty.
more like this

answer text
I am aware of the strain that many charities are under during this time of financial uncertainty and increased demand on their services. On 8 April, the government announced a £750 million funding package for charities delivering frontline services. Unfortunately not all charities will be able to benefit from this, so they should also consider whether they are eligible for other existing government schemes, such as the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, the Self Employment Income Support Scheme, Business Interruption Loans and deferring VAT payments.
more like this

The Foreign Secretary has raised his concerns about the impact of the access restrictions on the humanitarian situation with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, most recently on 23 November. The Minister for the Middle East did the same with the UAE Deputy Foreign Minister on 13 November and the Saudi Foreign Minister on 21 November. The Foreign Secretary has also discussed the humanitarian crisis in Yemen with the UN Secretary General.
more like this

answer text
Some media reporting and public comments suggested that the picture together with the tag line was racist. In the answer I gave on 2 November 2016 to Question HL2682, it was acknowledged that this could have been open to misinterpretation. This is because such things are a matter of judgement and personal perception. Officials therefore decided that it should be removed, and an apology was issued for any offence which may have been caused.
more like this
