answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/01/2019 answer text <p>Border Inspection Posts (BIPs) are commercial ventures set up by ports and airports which are inspected and approved for operation by the relevant Competent Authority and the Commission. Any BIPs at ports with regular ferry services to the UK would be approved by the Competent Authority of that EU Member State, not the Secretary of State.</p><p>As explained in the Technical Notice on <em>“Importing animals and animal products if there’s no Brexit deal”, </em>consignments originating in the EU will not initially be required to enter the UK through a BIP. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/06/2018 answer text <p>The Immigration Act 2016 amended the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 to allow sectors to be included or excluded from the remit of the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority so that the licensing regime can be flexible in meeting the changing nature of labour exploitation.</p><p>Changes to the licensing regime should be informed by an understanding of the threat of exploitation in different sectors and the full range of options to tackle it. That is why we have appointed the Director of Labour Market Enforcement to assess the risk of exploitation in different sectors and consider whether the use of licensing is an appropriate response.
