answer text <p>We recognise that SMEs and social enterprises make a significant contribution to the defence supply chain, including shipbuilding. The National Shipbuilding Strategy has introduced a number of policy objectives which include creating opportunities for UK suppliers where possible, furthering the opportunities available to SMEs within the sector.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Ministry of Defence published its SME Action Plan in 2022 outlining specific commitments to improve engagement with smaller businesses including improving visibility of opportunities and simplifying our procurement approach. We are also encouraging our major suppliers to publish their own sub-contract opportunities through the Defence Sourcing Portal, making it easier for SMEs to find and bid in for defence work.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The appointment of the Director of the Office for Veterans’ Affairs was made in line with Civil Service recruitment practices.</p><p>The remuneration for the role has been set in line with the salary scale applicable for Senior Civil Service payband two.</p><p>The criteria for the role included: strong leadership skills; an ability to inspire confidence and work effectively with the charity sector, Ministers and senior officials; and, knowledge of veterans’ affairs and of relevant stakeholders.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department doesn’t collect data on the number of small and microbusinesses who have switched supplier.</p><p>It is important that small and microbusinesses are aware of their ability to switch and engage in the energy market. The Government therefore supports the Competition Markets Authority’s remedies which Ofgem have implemented to help these customers access better energy deals.</p> more like this
