answer text <p>Innovate UK is the new name for the Technology Strategy Board.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In 2011/12 Innovate UK did not provide any funds to organisations in the video games sector. In 2012/13, it provided £277k (0.06% of its core budget) to organisations in the video games sector and in 2013/14 it provided £1.9m (0.4% of its core budget).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The figures above do not include any awards made under Innovate UK’s Smart or Knowledge Transfer Partnership programmes, as this information can only be provided at disproportionate cost.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>DCMS is investing up to £8 million each year in 13/14 and 14/15 through the Skills Investment Fund. With industry match funding, this will support skills development in the film, TV, and video games sectors. By March 2015, Creative Skillset estimate that in total, over £4,300,000 of SIF funding will have been spent on training for the games sector. One element of this Fund, the Trainee Finder scheme, has so far placed 122 trainees in 67 games companies.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Whilst we have not had any recent discussions about pricing structure, PEGI – via the UK Games Rating Authority - formally notified my Department recently that the general fees for obtaining a PEGI classification are being increased by 5% from 1 July 2014, the first increase for 5 years.</p><p> </p><p>In 2012 my Department brought into force a statutory requirement for PEGI classifications for hard copy video games that are unsuitable for younger children. A full business impact assessment was produced for this policy in discussion with industry and with PEGI. My department will continue to monitor the impact of the statutory classification requirements for video games sold in the UK and we are committed to a formal review of the policy in 2015.</p> more like this
