answer text <p>The Department for Business and Trade manages ministerial conflicts of interest through an established system set out in the Ministerial Code and led by the Cabinet Office. This ensures that steps are taken to avoid or mitigate any potential conflicts of interest.</p><p> </p><p>The Permanent Secretary, together with the Prime Minister’s Independent Advisor for Ministers’ Interests, have reviewed the interests of DBT Ministers and, where necessary, have proposed mitigations to manage any potential conflicts of interest. These mitigations have been agreed and implemented with the relevant Minister.</p><p> </p><p>We do not manage conflicts of interest for Ministers outside of the Department for Business and Trade.</p><p> </p><p>The Ministerial Code is available on <a href="http://gov.uk/" target="_blank">GOV.UK</a> at the following link:</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/ministerial-code" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/ministerial-code</a>.</p>

answer text <p>We are continuing to negotiate with India to secure a comprehensive and ambitious trade deal.</p><p> </p><p>The thirteenth round of negotiations began on 18 September. Talks are now focused on complex issues including goods, services, and investment.</p><p> </p><p>We are working at pace, but we are not committing ourselves to a deadline. The Secretary of State will only sign when we have a deal that is fair and in the best interests of the British people and the economy.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In negotiations with India, as with all our trading partners, the UK’s approach to intellectual property (IP) is to strike a balance between rewarding research, innovation and creativity, which can benefit all countries, whilst ensuring that medicines remain affordable and reflecting wider public interests, such as access to and use of IP on reasonable terms.</p><p> </p><p>The UK considers the TRIPS Agreement as an essential tool to achieve this balance, including our support for flexibilities enshrined in the Agreement.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We are continuing to negotiate with India to secure a comprehensive and ambitious trade deal.</p><p> </p><p>Round 12 of negotiations concluded on 31 August. While visiting India for the G20 Trade Ministers meeting on 24-26 August, the Secretary of State for Business and Trade met with India’s Ministers for Commerce and Finance. They discussed how to make meaningful progress in this complex next phase of talks, which is focused on goods, services, and investment.</p><p> </p><p>The Prime Minister also met with Prime Minister Modi on 9 September while at the G20 Summit. They reaffirmed their joint commitment to work at pace towards an ambitious deal.</p><p> </p><p>The next round will be later this month.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government has put in place enhanced scrutiny arrangements for free trade agreements. This included publishing our negotiating strategy, including objectives, in January 2022.</p><p> </p><p>Since negotiations commenced, we have published twelve negotiation updates. In addition the Chief Negotiator has briefed the relevant select committees on a number of occasions. Once the deal is concluded it will be subject to parliamentary scrutiny under the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act, prior to ratification. The Government will also commission and publish advice from the independent Trade and Agriculture Commission. Finally, any legislation needed to implement the agreement will be scrutinised and passed by Parliament in the usual ways.</p> more like this
