The Home Office releases statistics quarterly on The Operation of Police Powers under the Terrorism Act 2000 and subsequent legislation. The most recent publication was released on 14 June 2018 and includes public statistics relating to sentence length of all offenders convicted under this Act since 2009-10 until 2017-18. Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) works closely with a range of partners to tackle terrorism and extremism of all ideologies. HMPPS also has a strong multi-faith Chaplaincy dedicated to working with prisoners on all faith matters including providing a proper understanding of Islam. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/03/2018 answer text <p>The statutory definition of terrorism is provided at section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2000, and the Government has no plans to amend this. There is no single statutory definition of ‘terrorist material’ however there are a range of applicable offences. It is unlawful under section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006 to publish a statement directly or indirectly encouraging another person to commit, prepare or instigate an act of terrorism.</p><p>Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006 covers dissemination of publications which are likely to be understood as such an encouragement, or to be useful to a person preparing or committing an act of terrorism. Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000 makes it unlawful to collect or possess information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/05/2018 answer text <p>As the Home Secretary told the house in her oral statement following publication of David Anderson's report, the Government is confident that David Anderson, MI5 and the Police asked the right questions and drew the right conclusions in their reviews following the attacks in London and Manchester between March and June 2017. Work on implementation is in progress and the Home Office is working closely with MI5, JTAC and the Police to ensure the recommendations are delivered.</p><p>In line with the recommendations, JTAC and MI5 accept they have a role to play in tackling this growing threat and are expanding their involvement in work to combat domestic terrorism. The Home Office acknowledges the benefit of updating the terms 'domestic extremism' and 'international counter terrorism’.
