answer text <p>Statutory homelessness statistics for 2023-24 publishes data on the length of time that households with children stay in temporary accommodation. answer text <p>Homelessness levels are far too high. This can have a devastating impact on those affected. Local authorities report their statutory homelessness statistics on a quarterly basis and these can be accessed: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-homelessness" target="_blank">here.</a></p><p>The Government is taking action by setting up a dedicated Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) which the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) will chair, bringing together ministers from across government to develop a long-term strategy to put us back on track to ending homelessness.</p><p>More widely, we are taking action to tackle the root causes of homelessness, including:</p><ul><li>Delivering the biggest increase in social and affordable housebuilding in a generation and building 1.5 million new homes over the next parliament.</li><li>Abolishing Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions, preventing private renters being exploited and discriminated against, and empowering people to challenge unreasonable rent increases.</li></ul>

answer text <p>The Government is clear that homelessness is too high and too many families are living in temporary accommodation. We want to take a long-term approach and, working with Mayors and councils across the country, we will develop a new cross-government strategy to get us back on track to ending homelessness. answer text <p>As set out in its Terms of Reference published on 14th August, the Child Poverty Taskforce will ensure combined action across government departments, exploring all available levers to drive forward short and long-term actions to reduce child poverty.</p><p> </p><p>The Taskforce will engage external experts throughout the strategy development process including through a rolling programme of meetings, with sessions built thematically to bring together a broad range of experts on specific topics.</p><p> </p><p>The Government also recognises the importance of capturing the experiences of those living in poverty which is why the Taskforce will also draw on findings from wider external engagement events in all regions and nations of the UK.
