answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/10/2018 answer text <p>This Government attaches the highest priority to tackling all forms of sexual exploitation and to ensuring that all victims, whether they are a child or an adult, get the protection and support they need.</p><p>Police have a range of powers to protect children from child sexual exploitation, including Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, Sexual Risk Orders, Slavery and Trafficking Risk Orders and Child Abduction Warning Notices. To help local agencies make best use of these and other powers, we will publish a child exploitation toolkit, setting out the full range of powers available to police and local partners to protect victims and disrupt offenders.</p><p>We are committed to ensuring that victims receive quality support when and where they need it. In each of the last three years the Government has allocated around £7.2m in funding to sexual violence support services to provide independent, specialist support to female and male victims of sexual violence, including victims of child sexual abuse. This includes £1.7m to rape support services across England and Wales to provide specialist support to victims of child sexual abuse and exploitation. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/05/2018 answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring that all victims of crime have access to the support services they need to help them cope with and, as far as possible, recover from the effects of crime. We will be spending about £96m this year to fund support services for victims of crime. Of this, about £68m is being allocated to Police and Crime Commissioners to locally commission or provide support services for victims of crime, based on their assessment of local need. This includes victims of sexual violence. Further, in 2018/19 we allocated funding of over £7.2 million for rape support services across England and Wales to provide independent, specialist support to female and male victims of sexual violence, including victims of child sexual abuse.</p><p> </p><p>On 25 April, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse published its Interim Report. The Report provides an overview of the work undertaken so far and sets out what the Chair and Panel consider to be key emerging themes. The Report also contains recommendations for specific changes to help better protect children from sexual abuse, including establishing the current level and effectiveness of public expenditure on services for child victims and adult survivors of child sexual abuse in England. Where holders of public office are thought to have wilfully neglected the duties of their office, the offence of misconduct in public office may apply.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has introduced a range of measures to tackle the culture of denial and inaction that has led to children being failed in the past, including: consulting on options to strengthen arrangements in relation to reporting and acting on child abuse or neglect; creating a new national whistleblowing helpline for public sector workers; and introducing legislation to ensure that exit payments for senior staff can be clawed back where those people are quickly re-employed in the same part of the public sector. This will ensure that those who fail to protect children see the consequences of their actions.</p><p> </p><p>Allegations of police misconduct are matters for the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). The consultation was a broad exercise which invited views on a range of different models, including the potential scope of any duty and the types of abuse such a duty might pertain to.</p><p> </p><p>Tackling both child sexual abuse and neglect remains a key focus of the government’s reforms to create a world class child protection system, where the needs of individual children are identified early and they get the help and support they require as soon as possible to keep them safe.</p><p> </p><p>The government has committed to laying a report before Parliament on the outcome of the consultation. Submissions are being considered and a government response will be published in due course.
