answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/01/2024 answer text <p>We are investing £2.3 billion of additional funding a year by March 2024 compared to 2018/19 to expand and transform mental health services in England so that two million more people can get the mental health support that they need. This includes expanding NHS Talking Therapies for adults with common mental illness such as depression or anxiety, and including bad nerves.</p><p>The Spring 2023 Budget contained several packages that support mental health, including over £400 million to support the long-term sick and disabled to remain in or enter employment. This includes around £200 million for digital mental health, which is funding to modernise and digitise mental health services in England, providing wellness and clinical grade apps free at the point of use, pilot cutting-edge digital therapies and digitise the NHS Talking Therapies programme.</p><p>In addition, as announced at the 2023 Autumn Statement, we are further expanding and improving Talking Therapies from 2024/25 to 2028/29 so that an additional 384,000 people with anxiety or depression can benefit from accessing a course of treatment. The investigation by Health Services Safety Investigations Body, announced on 28 June, will include looking at how to develop a safe, therapeutic staffing model for all mental health inpatient services.</p><p>The Long-Term Workforce Plan estimates a need to increase training places for mental health nurses by between 74% and 93% by 2030/31. The Plan sets out an ambition to increase mental health nursing places by 93% to more than 11,000 places by 2031/32. To support this ambition, training places will increase by 13% by 2025/26 and 38% by 2028/29.</p><p>As of April 2023, there were 39,929 full-time equivalent (FTE) mental health nurses working in National Health Service trusts and integrated care boards in England. Dialectical behaviour therapy is not offered through IAPT services.</p><p>The NHS Long Term Plan sets out an ambition to expand and transform community mental health services for adults, including increasing access to evidence-based psychological therapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing and dialectical behaviour therapy. NHS England has also published guidance developed with the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines (NICE) to share best practice on implementing the IAPT long term conditions pathway.
