answer text <p>As part of our appraisal of energy projects, the Treasury and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) assess impacts on the local and UK economy. This is reflected in the Government assurance process for Hinkley Point C, and we continue to monitor the delivery of the project’s economic benefits with the developer. The developer expects the project will contribute £1.5 billion to the local economy during construction and 25,000 job opportunities, whilst up to 64% of the value of construction contracts will be received by UK companies.</p> more like this

answer text <p>On the 25th October 2016, my rt. hon. Friend the Chief Secretary to the Treasury made a statement to Parliament approving the provision of a guarantee for up to £2 billion debt guarantee for HPC through the UK Guarantees Scheme. This £2bn guarantee has since been cancelled by EDF. The cancellation will be noted as a change to contingent liabilities in HMT's year-end report, and will also be noted in the annual report to Parliament on the UK Guarantee Scheme.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Implementation of the marine licensing regime in England is a function delegated to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).</p><p> </p><p>The MMO has not engaged in any recent discussions with the Welsh Government, EDF or NRW specifically regarding the relocation of sediment from the Hinkley Point C project to the Cardiff Grounds disposal site. The disposal of sediment at this site is regulated by Natural Resources Wales (NRW). I can confirm however that the Countryside Council for Wales (NRW’s predecessor) and the Welsh Government were consulted on the original marine licence application(s) for Hinkley Point C in 2012.</p> more like this
