answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/09/2021 answer text <p>When we published the <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/cyber-security-breaches-survey-2021" target="_blank">Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2021</a> we purposely focused on the impact of additional guidance issued by NCSC in response to the COVID-19 pandemic: guidance on <a href="https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/guidance/home-working" target="_blank">home working</a> and <a href="https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/guidance/video-conferencing-services-security-guidance-organisations" target="_blank">video conferencing services</a>; and guidance on <a href="https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/guidance/moving-business-from-physical-to-digital" target="_blank">moving business online</a>, as we considered these to be the priority topics of interest at that time. As a result, we did not publish the data on awareness of Cyber Essentials for micro and small businesses.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Overall for businesses in 2021, 14% of businesses were aware of Cyber Essentials, in line with 2020 (13%). The figures on micro and small businesses from the 2021 Survey followed the same trend as previous years. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/07/2021 answer text <p>At the end of June 2021, 70,859 Cyber Essentials certificates have been awarded to organisations in the UK, including 55,645 to small and medium sized organisations. This includes an increase of 20,438 (17,477 to SMEs) in the overall number of certificates awarded since the end of August 2020. 12,566 certificates have been awarded so far this year, including 10,721 to SMEs. For a smaller number of older certificates (pre-2017) we do not have information available on the size of the organisation.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>On 12 May 2021 at CYBERUK 2021, the government announced the launch of the Cyber Essentials Readiness Tool. The interactive tool provides a bespoke action plan to organisations to improve their cyber security and will help SMEs prepare for Cyber Essentials certification.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>On 10 September 2020 the government announced a £500,000 fund to help SME businesses in the healthcare sector improve their digital resilience. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/09/2020 answer text <p>Cyber Essentials is promoted nationally through partnerships with over 50 amplification partners, including regulatory bodies and trade associations. It is also required for all central government contracts. The government works with law enforcement to engage with local businesses through Regional Organised Crime Units, one of which is run by Police Scotland. Alongside this, Scotland’s Business Resilience Centre offers subsidised, bespoke cyber security advice to SMEs, including about Cyber Essentials certification. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/07/2019 answer text <p>The Government takes the threat of cyber crime against small and medium-sized businesses very seriously. This is why the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) was established to provide a single, central authority on cyber security at the national level. The NCSC has created the small business guide to help small businesses protect themselves from the most common cyber attacks.</p><p>The Government continues to invest in the law enforcement response to cyber crime, over £200 million since 2010. This includes investment in the Protect network so in all 43 force areas there is someone dedicated to helping businesses and individuals protect themselves from cyber crime.
