answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/05/2024 answer text <p>The Government does not hold the data on the number of buildings where insulation has been installed through a government funded scheme and subsequently required remediation work.</p><p> </p><p>Since 2019, all installations under government energy efficiency schemes have been required to be carried out by TrustMark registered and PAS 2030 or MCS certified businesses to improve the quality of installations and protect consumers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 31/01/2024 answer text <p>It is generally accepted that the life safety risk is proportional to the height of buildings.   The risk to life from historical fire safety defects is lower in buildings under 11m, therefore building safety related remediation works are required in a very small number of buildings under 11m.</p><p>In rare cases where remediation work is required in buildings under 11 metres, the government has retrospectively extended the limitation period under Section 1 of the Defective Premises Act 1972 enabling legal action against developers and contractors where works completed in the last 30 years made a dwelling not “fit for habitation”.</p><p>We would welcome examples of any specific cases under 11m where there are concerns to be raised with the Department for further review.</p> answering member constituency North East Derbyshire answering member printed Lee Rowley question first answered 31/01/2024 12:59:27 answering member 4652 label Biography information for Lee Rowley

It is unacceptable that some are deliberately holding up remediation works by refusing to sign legal agreements that allow Government funding to be released.</p><p>Regulatory bodies, the Secretary of State, and leaseholders have legal powers to compel building owners to fix their buildings. We are working with regulators to ensure that rogue building owners are held to account. The Department is already pursuing legal action against Grey GR, the owner of Vista Tower in Stevenage.</p><p>Building owners need to minimise the impact of remediation works on residents, and contractors undertaking work should consider carefully how to make work less disruptive and intrusive where possible, listening to residents of the buildings undergoing remediation. We are in advanced negotiations with developers to finalise the contract, which will make the commitments in the developer pledge (published in April) legally binding. We will publish the final form of the contract as soon as possible, at which point developers will be asked to sign the contract.
