At 11:20 a.m., Gold Command was opened. At 2:30 p.m. sole responsibility for Gold Functions transferred to the Prison Service.Order was restored shortly after 10pm, at which point control was handed back to G4S. Throughout the day, regular cross-government calls took place to make necessary preparations and to ensure the Prison Service had all the support it needed.
