answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/04/2024 answer text <p>The BBC Funding Review is looking at how alternative funding models could help secure the broadcaster’s long-term sustainability amid an evolving media landscape, increased competition and changing audience behaviour, while reducing the burden on licence fee payers. It is a government-led review, supported by an expert panel that incorporates a broad range of views from across the sector, providing advice and external challenge on the issues set out in the review’s Terms of Reference, which are available on gov.uk..</p><p>The Panel does not have any decision making powers, and is one aspect of the Government’s BBC Funding Model Review.</p><p>The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport appointed Panel members based on their expertise across relevant sectors, including television, radio, news and international relations. The experts were selected in consultation with industry stakeholders based on their experience and knowledge of wide ranging issues at the heart of the UK media sector such as the role of Public Service Broadcasters, press sustainability and content for children and young adults. Panel membership is voluntary. Charter Review is the right time for decisions on funding to be made, as only through amending the Charter and associated legislation can the BBC’s funding model be changed for the next Charter period.</p><p>As part of the review, we will appoint an expert panel that incorporates a broad range of views from across the sector to support the Government throughout the review. However, the BBC's funding model faces major challenges due to changes in the way people consume media. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 31/01/2022 answer text <p>The UK Government has a strong record of demonstrating its commitment to minority language broadcasting to ensure that our broadcasting sector services all audiences of the UK nations and regions.</p><p>The BBC’s Royal Charter is an important way of delivering on this. One of the BBC's Public Purposes is to &quot;reflect, represent and serve the diverse communities of all of the United Kingdom’s nations and regions and, in doing so, support the creative economy across the United Kingdom&quot;.
