answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/02/2024 answer text <p>The UK provided over £196 million in response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria. This included direct humanitarian support to the population of Barbuda, who were evacuated to Antigua in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Irma. We also committed £3 million to longer-term reconstruction work for the energy sector on the island of Barbuda. The use of funds was assessed by a Foreign Affairs Committee enquiry and the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) performance review early in 2018, and is also subject to our standard project governance and oversight. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/11/2017 answer text <p>Antigua and Barbuda is eligible to receive Official Development Assistance (ODA). The island of Barbuda, with a population of 1,800 persons, was recently devastated by Hurricane Irma and the UK is providing humanitarian assistance, through the Red Cross and the Pan American Health Organisation, to the affected population. We have also released £14 million, to Antigua and Barbuda, for climate-resilient infrastructure projects to help the islands build back better and stronger. DFID is awaiting the World Bank’s post disaster needs assessment and will review future needs accordingly, in collaboration with other donors.
