<p>No recent assessments have been made of odour regulations. The government considers
that current provisions under the Environmental Permitting and Statutory Nuisance
regimes provide adequate protection.</p><p> </p><p>Landfill sites in England must
be operated in accordance with an environmental permit, regulated by the Environment
Agency. Where issues could be a statutory nuisance under Section 79(1)(d) of the Environmental
Protection Act 1990, local councils are responsible for investigating these complaints.</p>
