<p> </p><p>The Department has had discussions with their counterparts at the Department
for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) on the development of a higher apprenticeship
for nursing. Aside from this, the Department has had no other specific discussions
with BIS on the subject of apprenticeship reforms in general. However, the Department
of Health will be implementing the Civil Service Fast Track Apprenticeship Scheme
(CSFTAS) in October 2014. This scheme was commissioned by the Minister for the Cabinet
Office and the Head of the Civil Service in October 2012. It is a cross-Government
corporate scheme that sits alongside and complements the Civil Service Fast Stream
Programme as another talent strand. As this is a cross-Government scheme, BIS would
have been directly involved in this initiative.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Managing
future talent is a positive aim under the Civil Service Reform Plan and is a key enabler
of organisation effectiveness and future delivery of our business.</p><p> </p><p>
</p><p> </p><p>The CSFTAS demonstrates the Civil Service’s commitment to providing
high quality opportunities for young people.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department
is also working with Cabinet Office colleagues in developing a commercial apprenticeship
programme for the civil service.</p><p> </p>
