answer text <p>As set out in previous statements to the House, the Secretary of State's quasi-judicial responsibilities in relation to the proposed acquisition of Sky by 21st Century Fox will be discharged, robustly and transparently. Such decisions must also be taken as promptly as is reasonably practicable.</p><p> </p><p>On 29 June the Secretary of State announced that she is minded-to refer the merger to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on media plurality grounds. In coming to a final decision, consideration will be given to the available evidence before her including any further representations received following the call for evidence which closed on 14 July.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Hercules C-130K model (CMk 1 and Mk3) retired from service on 31 December 2012.The Hercules C-130J CMk4 are scheduled to retire from RAF service on 31 March 2035. The Hercules C-130J CMk5 has begun an approved drawdown plan, and the final aircraft will leave service in 2019.We are procuring the A400M to assume the roles performed by all variants of the Hercules C-130J aircraft.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Nine P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft are being procured for use by the UK Armed Forces, with delivery of the first one expected in 2019. While initial support will be provided in the USA as part of the foreign military sale arrangement with the US Government, work is under way to define the support requirements from 2020 onwards. The opportunities arising from these will be managed through normal procurement routes, and UK businesses will be encouraged to participate in any competitions for this work. In advance of this, two industry days have already been held near Lossiemouth to highlight supply chain opportunities for local businesses.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government and Boeing are working closely together on a long-term initiative to advance prosperity in the UK. Ministers from the Ministry of Defence and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy are meeting regularly with the company to monitor progress. For example, Boeing and the Government are working together to build a new £100 million P-8A facility at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, creating more than 100 new jobs. Boeing has also announced further investments in the UK, including establishing its first European factory in Sheffield. Furthermore, the Government and Boeing are working with UK suppliers to increase opportunities on future global programmes. This includes a recent event in Seattle aimed at showcasing the capabilities of UK companies to Boeing engineers and supply chain managers.
